I heard that once feet stop growng, the height stops not too far behind. Conversely, feet will grow before a growth spurt. |
| Mine slowed down around 18 (he’s almost 19 now) but he may have another inch in him. His shoe size thank goodness has stopped growing and has been at 12 or 12.5 for the last three years or so. He’s 6’1” right now. |
| My college boyfriend told me he was one of the smallest kids in his class and that he shot up after high school and grew in college-I met him senior year and he was 5 11-6 ft range. His mom was short bit his dad was 6 ft and his uncle was 6 3 so maybe his genetics kicked in late. I realize he was not hugely tall but to go from 5’5’ after high school is pretty amazing. There was also a few bball players who had crazy growth stories after hs so this does happen. |
This can’t be right. Plenty of athletes (Jordan, Brady) randomly shot up a few inches in college, for example. I don’t know if it’s common but it’s a phenomenon that exists. Ask the pediatrician. Also, weight gain (without height gain) can make feet bigger! |
| My 16 year old seems to be slowing down. Grew an inch this year (is 5’9”) and feet are about 11. I’m guessing he still has another 2-3 inches to go but I might be wrong. His dad is 6’ and my dad was 6’2”. I’m only 5’5” though. |

It varies. In our family, males destined to be under 6' stopped growing by 17, but those who are over 6' continued to grow through college. Only one that I recall seemed to be a late bloomer, i.e. was under 5'9" in high school and is now 6'3". |
| My husband did not hit puberty until 16, finished high school at 5'98 and then did most of his growing in college. He ended up at 6'4". We went to his high school reunion and it was the topic of the night: "holy crap, what the heck happened?" |

oops
previous poster. finished up high school at 5'8". Ended college at 6'4" |
This was my H and he started puberty early. My boys and my brother started late and grew late, but we're also of a different ethnicity. My mom's side of the family and my brother are all very tall. My mom comes from a region in which the haplogroup I-M170 is prevalent. |
Well I’ve got you beat, my 11 year old is going to hit six feet before he’s 12...I think he’s going to end up in a traveling circus sideshow. |

Based on the CDC growth charts for boys,
Boys tend to gain 1 to 1.5 inches between 16 yrs and 20 yrs. Obviously, there are outliers. But those are the growth curves at all percentiles. |
You are really tall for a woman. Height of the mother is as important as father. Your son could easily be 6’4. |
My 13 yo is 5’ 11 1/4.” He is always the tallest. I wonder the same sometimes. |
Wow! |
