Looks like Elrich is going to impose covid restrictions

Anonymous
I must admit, I had started to doubt Marc’s commitment to protecting the county with reasonable lockdowns and restrictions…. But it looks like that was unfounded.

I’m glad we’ll be going back into restrictions. We need to. People proved they couldn’t be trusted with a little freedom.

Hogan reinstated the state of emergency more than a week ago, OP.

Every sane official of every political stripe is doing contingency planning right now.

Now is the time.

Not true !

I fully agree. Freedom is dangerous and people don't know how to handle it. It is best if Marc tells us what to do and controls all aspects of our lives. That will be more equitable too.

The Constitution of the United States disagrees with you.

I don't think this is true. Lots of places had more COVID spread but still had schools open. Impose restrictions now and what you're saying is that you're someone who is comfortable still imposing restrictions, even when vaccinations have been available for months. Impose COVID restrictions now, and do so with limited pushback, and you're more likely to impose them later, now less. Besides, the only people who are going to take this stuff seriously at this point are the ones who've been taking it seriously this whole time, and they're already vaccinated, so you're not going to meaningfully slow transmission.

Because those locations did not care if people got sick or died. Still dont. Same places thst didnt expand medicare coverage.

Is that what your crystal ball tells you? The only "restriction" I consider likely is an indoor mask requirement in the places where a mask is not currently required indoors (keeping in mind that there are still plenty of places in the county where a mask is currently required indoors). We are one of the most vaccinated counties in the US.

Cases cases cases.

Remember when the news used to be about hospitalizations and deaths?

Guess sore throats and coughs are an emergency now that (thankfully) people aren't laid up in the hospital or laid out in caskets so much?

I sincerely hope you get sick with this virus and that it shuts you up once and for all, you ridiculous waste of space.

That's the spirit! "All in this together! Six weeks to stop the spread!"

It’s so funny when someone gets mad and just loses it on this forum. I like it almost as much as Elrich loves his pathetic little flexes.

Oh my god. It’s a “contingency plan” that says if cases reach X amount then maybe we might require masks indoors.

And people already losing their minds over it.

I hate people.

Not that previous poster, but it actually does not.

I feel badly for little kids who can't get vaccinated yet. But for those who are eligible, if they are vaccinated let them go to school. Let the unvaccinated kids stay home....

Nobody is even talking about closing schools again..it’s about masks. Just masks.

This. Notice they make no mention of deaths? Because those are down big-time. There were only 13 deaths in June compared to 187 in January in MoCo.

The entire state of MD had only 3 deaths in the last 24 hours.

We need contingency plans now, to get the numbers down so that schools can open in person 5 days, with as many precautions as we can put in place without closing them.

The fact that we are allowing other things to happen, when our numbers are risking and school is jeopardized says all sorts of things about our priorities as a society.

100% agree! Speaking as the mom of 2 kids under 12. My 10 yo feels like the country doesn’t care about kids anymore.

Contingency plans are always good to have.

Let's just place this discussion in some context. The average daily deaths from COVID in the entire DMV is less than ten. Between 400 and 500 people die every day.

I expect deaths to increase and hospital pressure to increase, but we need to learn to live with this disease. It isn't going away.
