Our team reps stand on the side of the pool and video their own kids swimming. They also coach their own kids as they head to their lane for their race, reminding them of where they are on the ladder and who they need to beat to move up on said ladder. Keep in mind this is all said and done in front of the rest of the team. Shouldn't the team rep be in team rep mode and not parent mode while on deck?

We’ve been involved in the NVSL for 13 years as parents, team rep, and Division Coordinator and we haven’t heard any parent do this.

OP here- I wish I could say the same. Ours berate others and then shamelessly act like they are above it all. If we are in the same division, you'll see it tomorrow!

I love our team reps. They're amazingly helpful and always working. Most of the time, they're so busy they barely stop to watch their kids race. They certainly aren't engaging in any coaching or other inappropriate behavior.

this, I've been through multiple sets through the years and all have been great. It's a super time consuming job that I can't imagine doing if you didn't really care about the team.

I’d suggest another parent step up next year and become rep.

I’ve never seen the from our team rep but with all the work she does, if she wanted to giver her son some extra encouragement or coaching, I wouldn’t begrudge her. I’d say something about the filming, though. That’s not cool if no one else can do it. In our Div 2 pool workers in deck can film if they’re not occupied…like I, while timing, filmed my son’s race b/c no one was swimming in our lane.
