Just curious - how long did you breastfeed? (after the first 3 months)

I'm still breastfeeding at 13 months...tried to start weaning at 12 months but my DD is not into cow's milk at all, sigh. Hopefully I'll be fully done in a month or so.

I went back to work when DD was 4 mo old. She's now 7 mo old & I'm still nursing her and giving her EBM exclusively along with some solids. Ideally i'd like to nurse until she's 1yo (assuming she still wants to) but I agree with PPs that the pumping at work (I do 2x day) is a real drag! I feel great that I got her past 6 mo and although I'd rather not supplement with formula, I may decided to go that route b/f she switches to cows milk. We'll just see how it goes......

I breastfed until my DD was 19 months. It was easy to wean; she was totally into her Dad and loved his giving her a bottle of milk. Not a peep out of her when we stopped. I stopped because I was having minor surgery; otherwise I would probably have continued.

I am still nursing my 14 month old. He nurses 3x a day - before naps and bedtime. BUT - I stay home, and working and pumping is a whole other kettle of fish. I bet I wouldn't have made it 14 weeks, let alone months! I have so much respect for working moms.

I also weaned at 15 months. Just had a feeling that it was the right time and I really wanted my boobs back. You'll know when you have that feeling too.

23 months; he self-weaned, sort of. I am pregnant, my supply dropped quickly, and he was okay with moving on...

BF DD#1: 10 months
BF DD#2: 12 months

When DD was born there was a report in JAMA that for benefits in IQ, BF for 9 months was significant and not after that. For mom's health, every year you BF has a lot of benefits for you...just a few examples of different times and benefits you can read about. Ultimately some is better than none and your sanity is right up there for reasons to stop! I hated pumping and made barely any milk, so it was pretty pointless anyhow!

3 yrs for #1, 2 1/1 yrs for # 2. I did pump with first child so that I could have DH help, but did not with second.

I am a teacher too, and I find it *really* hard to pump regularly. I think my supply has dropped quite a bit, and I never had tons of milk to begin with. DD is 5 mos, and my original goal is six months, if I can make it. However, I really don't get enough milk for her bottles just pumping at work, so I get up and pump overnight so we have enough to give her. Even then we sometimes have to give one bottle of formula. I am on spring break this week, which might help boost my production, but when I am working I just feel like a zombie--and I am not even getting up for night feedings, just pumping! It's very frustrating. I plan on just taking things one week at a time when I get back.

My DD is three days shy of her first bday and I planned on weaning her immediately after she turned 1. I am only BFing twice per day but she is obsessed with it. I've tried replacing it with something else and it hasn't gone over well. I would really like to have her done in a few months as I'm ready to have my body back to myself before we start trying for #2. I also feel that the benefits of nursing have gone down significantly for her, as I don't think she's actually getting much from me, more comfort - plus she eats three great meals and a snack with 24 oz of fluids every day.

I bf my daughter for 9 months

BF'ed DD#1 for 12 months. She decided she wanted nothing more to do with me right around her first birthday!
BF'ed DD#2 for ~18 months. By the end, it was just comfort nursing, once a day.

For me, once I got through the initial hump (first 4-6 weeks of pain and sore nipples), it was such a no brainer and no big deal, I didn't see a reason to stop. The pumping was a pain, yeah - got to admit that
