Are the Olympics a relic from the last century?

Will the rest of the gymnastics team be quarantined now one of them is positive?

What a weird time to be an Olympian.

How does the plexiglass help if the virus is airborne? If you can smell your neighbor's dish, you can breath in her breathe.

This.

I'm a bit less interested than I used to be. Partly that's b/c it is a corrupt business. Partly, they've ruined it with the allowance of pros to participate (for all countries).

It was an alternate…and one who has a unvaccinated roommate.

What a mess.

NP. I know next to nothing about the Olympics. Can you explain the corruptness?

Yes, it's outlived it's usefulness.

Please explain what you mean by this.

We achieved world peace among the nations!

I enjoy the Olympics but am ready for the gravy train part of it to end. No more extracting ridiculous, wasteful investments in infrastructure by the hosts plus some sharp penciled financial accounting of the IOC. Yes, maybe only a dozen cities will be interested in hosting. That's OK.

No athlete, coach, parent, etc. who is unvaccinated should be allowed to participate.

It's corrupt as hell but you can pry Olympic figure skating from my cold, dead hands.

The question is would the World Champs of figure skating be enough to keep you happy?

I'm fearing a break out with swimming after one guy stated he didn't get the vaccine for fear it would mess with his training. I wonder what he will say if positive cases mess with his gold medal chances, and prevent relay team participation.

Yes, run by a foul racist anti-Semite (Avery Brundage and his ilk) for years, a cesspool of ignorance and deceit.

Could not agree more.

I read an interview with that guy, and he sounded like a selfish, first-class idiot.

Is the gymnast who tested positive the one alternate who is not vaccinated? And if not, did the Olympic organizers really give an unvaccinated athlete a roommate? WTH?

Close but negatory. It’s just not the same.

The person who tested positive is not the one who was not vaccinated at the time of trials. It is being reported that the unvaccinated gymnast is the roommate of the gymnast who tested positive.
