Parents of twins/multiples how did you find childcare?

I can tell that it wouldn't be worth it and I haven't even met you.

The kindergartener isn’t included in the $25/hr rate. He’s in school full time. It would be extra if he was ever home and I should have included 5 sick days/year and a possible healthcare stipend.

Okay. But we're in a pandemic where every school system (rural or urban) is sending kids home for 10-12 days if there's a positive case in the classroom.

Your nanny applicants aren't stupid. If s/he's sent home for a cold or the flu or Covid it doesn't matter, they'd be in charge of them.

You think they want to fight with you on 'extra' pay when you're already lowballing them for twins? Or that they want the chance of having to wrangle 3 in the first place?

Show them a contract with an emergency nanny just for the kindergartner and maybe they'd relax.

On top of that 5 sick days a year and 1/2 of healthcare pay?! How generous of you. /s

$30

$32/hr for the twins at a maximum of 35 hours a week, $35/hr for overtime, full-healthcare paid by you every month, 3 weeks PTO (2 your choice, 1 theirs), and 8 days of sick leave.

Plus access to your car for twin appointments, mommy & me classes, park trips etc

We have multiples and an older child, 2 yr age difference. I stayed home with them until they were 18 mos and then used a home daycare. It was much easier to find care once they weren’t infants.

Girl you have champagne taste on a beer budget. We pay $1340 a month for a lovely home daycare with a camera. We never set up the camera account though. You can tell if something is amiss though. Our dd smiles when she seems then and has met many milestones early.

$30 an hr at least for twins in NOVA. The not allowing parents in thing is a county requirement in MoCo at least. I don’t agree with it either.

Home daycares likely won’t have cameras so I bet that’s another hurdle for OP, who is looking for a unicorn situation

My in-home has cameras.

From OPs tone I assume she wants cameras focused over each twin's bed with audio/video components. Is that what yours has?

Op I live in a hcol area and never paid 25 an hour for 4 kids.
Are you open to non English speaking? I pay 20 an hour and for her transportation. We pay her taxes additionally. She gets sick time and vacation time and w2 every year.
It's possible to find but you may have to pay transportation, accept a live in etc.

No, but then I’m also not expecting to hire nannies for twins for $25/h.

The problem is OP.

I’m sure she was very difficult with the new hire and she realized that and bailed. I can’t blame her.

Honestly, if neither parent is in a career where getting a clearance matters, this is when I would be willing to assume the risk of hiring someone like an overstayed au pair/undocumented immigrant off the books. Otherwise, the job offer just isn’t competitive.

Why isn’t an au pair appropriate for babies OP?! I think an au pair would be a great solution in your case.

Au pairs don't take care of 9-month-old twins for 35-40 hours a week. That's indentured servitude.
