Oh, so since the police can’t continue their modus operandi of unchecked aggression towards people of color, they’re going to be pouty little babies, sitting on the sideline while actual crime occurs? F*ck them. |
I guess you better find a phone booth to change clothes in and get out there and stop these shootings yourself then. |
Address the underlying social issues, and the shootings will subside. |

Zero.
Unenforceable and bad optics in the current climate. |
How long will that take? How many more innocent lives? Do both. Address the immediate problem of violence at the same time you work to fix the underlying causes. |

We have had youth curfews more recently, haven't we? My kid was in high school a few years ago and I'm pretty sure there were times she had to plan accordingly.
I think that's a great idea. There's no good reason for minors to be out after midnight. |
In HS, I took a college course once a week that got out at 10. By the time I walked from campus to the train station it was 10:30. I then had a one hour ride to another city and either a 30 min walk home or a 20 min bus ride. At least 2-3 times a month, I was out after midnight for a very good reason. |

I would question whether this was really a good schedule for a teen who would need to be up again by 6am or so, and it bears mention that one of the reasons this kind of schedule would not have been appropriate for my daughter is that it isn't safe to walk in my DC neighborhood after midnight because of... the rate of violent crime. But I also recall that kids who participated in school activities in the evenings were given some kind of document to show if they were stopped because of the curfew. |
It was one reason why I was able to get scholarship money and begin crawling out of poverty so I considered it a very good schedule for me. Who issues the document? Colleges do not give curfew passes. My HS was not involved. |

We have several universities that cooperate with DCPS right here in the District. Students would naturally take college classes as part of an organized program for high school students because they would otherwise be on the hook for tuition. Your multi-city commute scenario would not be on the table here in tiny DC. And many of our kids live in neighborhoods where they really shouldn't be out so late. Because crime. Back to that. In my neighborhood, there's round-the-clock property crime but after midnight robbers prey on the clueless bar crowds stupid enough to park their suburban cars on our residential blocks. |
We have a youth curfew now. https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/dcs-curfew-law-know-facts I'm not sure if OP has in mind something more restrictive or not, but that's what's in place today. |
Drill down. Which men are committing violent crime? It's a very specific subset of men. |

LMAO. Who’s going to enforce the curfew? Whose going to listen to those trying to enforce a curfew?
Stop and frisk is next? |
