In HS, I took a college course once a week that got out at 10. By the time I walked from campus to the train station it was 10:30. I then had a one hour ride to another city and either a 30 min walk home or a 20 min bus ride. At least 2-3 times a month, I was out after midnight for a very good reason. [/quote]

I would question whether this was really a good schedule for a teen who would need to be up again by 6am or so, and it bears mention that one of the reasons this kind of schedule would not have been appropriate for my daughter is that it isn't safe to walk in my DC neighborhood after midnight because of... the rate of violent crime.

But I also recall that kids who participated in school activities in the evenings were given some kind of document to show if they were stopped because of the curfew.
