Yes. Walking is exercise.
There is a poster who keeps on bringing this up. |
That's the key. If you enjoy something, you will keep doing it. I have lost 10 recently. My main exercise is walking: 30 minutes brisk in the morning and 10-30 minute stroll in the evening. |
| Absolutely. My neighborhood has a lot of hills too and it can be strenuous especially at a brisk pace. |
| I walk and it gets my heartrate up. I walk at 4.2 mph, incline of 9 or 10, and cover 1500 or 1600 vertical feet and 4.5 or 5 miles. It's not really a light stroll for me and it keeps me fit enough. I really don't enjoy other exercise. |
| Yes if it’s an intentional walk for exercise, meaning I’m walking fast and my heart rate is up. A leisurely walk at Target, even though the steps can up, doesn’t count to me. |
| No. Walking is part of ordinary life to get to point A to point B. If I’m not exerting myself, I don’t consider it exercise |
| It is definitely exercise. |
Definitely exercise. |

| Walking is great exercise. I do workout but I really think I’ve been in shape my whole adult life because I walk everywhere all the time. Even when I’m in a phase when I’m not working out, walking keeps me moving. |
| Yes, I rely on it as exercise, after not recovering 100% from orthopedic surgery (ex-runner). I live in a hilly city with some altitude though |
| Absolutely. But it’s a low to moderate exercise for me. It supplements my daily workouts, or I use it for recovery on rest days. But it’s definitely exercise. Just try and get the heart rate up! |
| Yes. Walking is amazing for your health. I lift weights 4x a week and try to walk 5 miles a day. It is so beneficial for you. |
This is pretty much me as well. I was a lifelong runner, but in my 40s switched to daily weights and walking with a weekly swim. Wish I had changed routines earlier. |
Same! |
