All right lady that's great about your "brother" but that is not the norm. Financial journalism pays more than other beats, that said, so if earning a good salary is part of your kid's intention, learn about finance.

You're probably just a hack. My brother is a print journalist and makes about $150k per year (salaried) plus benefits and is early 30s.
