Tell me about how you found a totally lost thing...

Any young children in the house? Something small and valuable I lost was actually tucked into a box of holiday decorations by one of mine and didn't reappear until many months later.

When I am away from home, I sometimes place small jewelry in the section of my wallet that holds the coins.

When something small is lost and not in the area where it likely is despite that area being thoroughly searched, I find that it's usually been swept up with something else and moved -- like caught up in linens and clothes and is in laundry or caught up with toiletries and is in toiletry bag. You need to think about other things that were in that area and where those things are now. Hopefully it did not get swept up with something that got thrown out.

We were having professional photos done at the beach. I wore a diamond bracelet with a lot of sentimental value. It got lost during the photoshoot. At dinner, I realized it - but by the time we went back, it was dark. We were leaving the beach the next morning, so I woke up early and combed the beach but didn't see it. My husband said we had to leave and that somebody must have picked it up, but I just couldn't leave. I made the kids come look with me, and my son dug around in the sand and found it!!!

My daughter lost her phone for weeks and I came to DCUM and you all told me where it was! (Between her bed and her mattress, which I had checked but not removed the mattress completely. When i did, it fell to the floor with a thunk.) I will never forget it!

As for jewelry, this is actually why I travel with very minimal jewelry - usually just my wedding rings and one comfortable pair of earrings because I never quite know where to put it when I am away from home.

I hope you find it!

I misplaced an important document that I needed for graduation when I was in college. This is back before you could just quickly download a new form to fill out online. Replacing it would have taken so long that I would have not been able to walk at graduation.

I searched and searched days. I tore my room apart and sorted through every book, folder, etc. looking for the paper. I even doublechecked that I hadn't turned it in and forgotten.

I had a dream the day before the deadline of me placing the paper inside of a folder at my parent's house. The dream was so real it was as if I was watching myself do the action. I immediately woke up and called my parents. After terrifying them and then calming them because it was around 3 AM, I asked my mom to go into my room there and look for a specific folder. Sure enough, there it was.

I have zero recollection of taking that form to their house or why it was there. I obviously did and my guess is that I did it over my last spring break and forgot all about it.

I've never had another dream like that since. It definitely felt very out-of-body and freaked me out for days after.

Try looking for something else. This is how I usually find things. Hopefully you'll find it!

When it's pitch black, use a flashlight. The metal should shine. Might work for you. DH lost his eye glasses. They were lying somewhere on a very large field. We went out in the dark with a flashlight and the eyeglass lens reflected light.

My kid could not find her sunglasses.

She googled where they were.

Google told her the top 3 places to look, and one was right.

Of course, this flew in the face of me trying to tell her not to go for Google for everything!

I've lost me marbles and still haven't found them.

Lost a pair of small diamond stud earrings. They were gone so long that I figured someone, at some point took them and bought another pair. Moved out of that condo and there they were on the floor, behind the dresser, between the wall and dresser and I just missed them. Couldn't believe it.

But not you're lucky charms... they're magically delicious!

I lost my wedding ring even though I was 99% sure I had put it in the drawer of my nightstand. I looked there and literally everywhere else it could have been with no luck.

9 months later I found it in the very back of that same nightstand drawer. I must have looked there 50 times, easily - why did I not see it??

My mother has found a lost ring in her raincoat pocket, and a different ring behind the lining of her purse (there was a small hole in a seam).

Were you wearing it that day? Maybe you left it at home. Check pix of the day/evening.

Anonymous wrote:Catholics pray to st Anthony. My mom once lost her engagement ring in a mall parking lot. After sitting around praying, we decided to call back the security at the mall AGAIN to see if anyone had found it. Amazingly someone had, and had left a note with her number with the mall cops. She had it in her lap in the car because she put on lotion— and stood up to get out of the car forgetting it was in her lap.

It works and don’t have to be Catholic
