Now that she is in office and a developer literally destroyed one of her constituents homes and directly displaced two families, she says that the "[displaced families] need support from our community" but nothing to say about the developer.

Hmmmmm.

She may be waiting for the facts to come out, to be fair. I hope so.

Ok, but what if we had a council member who could rally up a mob to do justice. Yeah!

/sarcasm

She has not made a public statement at all regarding the building falling down. Even something as mundane as “that shouldn’t happen” or “I’m concerned that this family alleges that they made complaints to DCRA and I pledge to get answers” or even the classic support for an “investigation”. She has only commented about the status of the displaced families. You can say what you want, but when god came calling she was found wanting.

Her policies led to this. The city's attitude towards developers is: Do whatever you like.

I think we are all accustomed to cynical politicians, but this is really something. Clearly not experienced enough to even pretend.

She made a statement in her newsletter on Friday. And she just got into office in January.

Where are all the GGW fans defending their advocacy to make building codes less strict?

There are levels of low, but that was the one of the lowest and the grossest. Trying to bring back slum lords by giving it a social justice veneer is about as low as it gets.

DCRA also completely fails to enforce their own correction orders. They've told me several times they won't enforce their own orders. What's the point of an enforcement agency if they refuse to enforce?

Indeed.

Can anything be done to protect homes and lives or do we need white people, preferably, umc, to die or get paralyzed before someone will take action? And who is the someone? Who do we need to write? Council? DCRA? Browser?
Anonymous
I didn’t mean preferably like they should or I want that by any stretch. I mean does it have to be rich white people.

See the advocacy for lightweight construction and applause for allowing it in taller buildings, which will get people killed. I don’t have time to find links for you.
