swim trunks for teen boys

Anonymous
I don’t know any teen boy that cares about the brand of swim trunks. We were in vacation last week at the beach and DS needed a replacement pair immediately. The only store there was a Walmart so we stopped by and bought him one for about $7. He said they were the most comfortable he ever had. Don’t know how long they will last but they are his current favorites. They are a solid color and don’t have a bar and. Go figure. Before that he wore whatever I bought online that’s were much more expensive.

My son is almost 15 and this summer I bought him pairs from Old Navy and Jcrew factory. We're at the beach most of the summer.

I’m just a step grandma trying to pick something he will like! He has such nice friends I can’t imagine they would even think about it!

Walmart mom here again. Is this for a vacation? We also picked up a cheap boogie board there. Mine would be thankful for the swim trunks but would love the boogie board. We also bought a cheap one at Walmart and he turned into a big kid again, jumping and playing in the waves. I read this after my other post. I’m sure any brand at your local store will be great!

For the beach or the pool? At our pool most kids wear jammers but it's a big swim team neighborhood pool so this is what the kids are used to and are comfortable in. For the beach our DC doesn't care so it's usually about what store I happen to be in or ordering from when I remember summer's coming up and he needs something to swim in.

To elaborate he wears board shorts at the beach. Could be J.Crew, Land's End, Target, something from a sports brand from Macy's or any number of other brands.

My sons prefer no crazy patterns, not crazy brand name....some kids do care. Kind of you to consider. I would ask him. We bought some at Lord and Taylor last year. Dick's has a bunch.

I don’t see any of the teens hanging out in jammers socially at our pool. It’s also a big swim team crowd. The boys there in jammers if it’s not practice or a meet are the tween and under crowd.

We don't have that many teens hanging out at the pool as many of them spend more time at private pools where they don't need to dodge all the toddlers, but the ones who do are mostly coaches, lifeguards, volunteers, or older siblings. Mix of jammers and board shorts.

I’m the PP above you. The ones there who are not working are way off to the side in groups on their phones, sleeping on chairs or flirting with each other. Not swimming at all.

Has anyone seen swim trunks with compression shorts underneath? Similar to these but longer length?

They aren't compression shorts. They are swim jammers and you put those on top.

It depends on what they are doing. My son likes simple over wild but he has his preferences and would pick speedo over other brands but he's swimming team. He will wear what ever I buy that fits though. For trunks, anything is fine.
