Jogging skirts

They are all the rage in our neighborhood and I have never seen my husband and male friends make more fun of a trend. I didn't think much of it, but I guess men think they look really funny?

Hmmm. I think they are kinda cute. I've never seen them before. I think it makes sense. If you want something form fitting to run in, but don't want spandex clinging to your but for all to see while your run, it would be good. Also, I imagine they are more flattering to your thighs than tight shorts. However, I can't picture them on someone who wouldn't already look good in shorts. If your too heafty to sport tight shorts, I would stay away from this skirt.

So I'm guessing not a lot of ladies grew up playing field hockey or lacrosse in kilts? I love my running skirts (shorts bunch up and tights are too...tight looking, unlessworn with long top that covers crotchtal area. I have a couple of the Athleta 'go-go' dress, and it's awesome.

I saw a woman in a pair today. She was very heavy and her muffin top was hanging over the short shorts. Even more painful to the eye was the jog bra she squeezed into. I give her credit for exercising (really, I do!), but I don't give her credit for fashion sense.

I think I would have preferred to see her in the jogging skirt, which I also can't stand, by the way, but in her case it would have been the lesser of two evils.

I don't understand the "can't stand" reaction to running skirts? Why so repugnant? (I wear them daily, so suddenly I'm sensitive...as if I've just been ambushed by Stacey and Clinton). It's not too short, black, Lycra, seems pretty sedate...poor little skirts, sorry people are hating on you.

Bum-hugging jogging shorts is worse. It shows everything, even the crotch fat. At least skort hides that.

I'm with you. I'm one of the PPs who said that I wear them. Are people thinking that they're worn for activities other than exercise? 'Cause I put mine on for a run and then come home, shower and put on fresh clothes. I'm not one to go around town in exercise clothing.

I mean this in the nicest way. If it's so gross to wear short shorts or a short skirt for running, because of horrors like crotch fat, why is the runner wearing ANYthing short at all?

As a counter example, I am overweight and I jog and go to the gym. I wear running tights because even *I* am horrified by my dimple legs.

I genuinely cannot believe that people live like this. Who the hell cares what other people wear? I feel like ones life must be rather unfulfilling if they choose to focus on this...particularly with the vitriol exhibited above. Get a life.

exactly...I'm not wearing one socially, except maybe the park after a run with DC in the stroller. In fact, that's another reason to wear a skirt, rather than tights...just a wee bit more coverage. I'm fit, but modest.

Who cares?
I'm a runner and I wear the lycra shorts but I do half marathons so no muffin top, crotch fat etc. I don't have a skirt just because it's more fabric and I sweat. a lot.

But even if I looked bad? At least I'm running.

I know someone that is past (say age 20) and still lets her underwear show in those old-fashioned low rise jeans. THAT is much more offensive!

Yes, lots of people in my running group wear them. They are cute, many times more flattering than running shorts and comfortable. I love Skirt Sports running skirts. They are well made and have built in shorts that are breathable and prevent chafing.

I don't wear them -or skorts in general- outside of running. But for running, they are super comfortable.

I have to agree with PPs that say who really cares? The important thing is exercise /fitness! I've been running for 10+ years. I wear shorts or tights; I haven't worn one of the running skirst. But, I think the running skirts are fine. Run happy, ladies!

Why all the hate ladies? Does it have to do with the disdain many have for country club women of leisure who wear tennis outfits outside of the court? Or because somehow the skirt part of the outfit is unnecessary and therefore a fashion statement?
