| They have usually done it on a Friday |
| 18th Friday |
| will they consider the math sol scores? math sol score is only available on sis! |
No one actually knows how they are evaluating the kids. That's the whole point. |
Is this speculation or were you told? |
|
I'm not the person who posted the 18th Friday prediction, but I second this as a guess. I personally think they were waiting for the end of year grades, seeing as how last year's were a mess. FCPS grades were supposed to be in by this past Monday, June 14th (though Loudoun and Arlington did not and do not have their last days of school until this week, and so their grades will probably be in next week).
Depending on whether or not the seats for those outside of FFX are pre-allocated (if anyone knows how that works, please inform us), I suppose we could have FCPS kids finding out as early as this Friday, June 18th. If they are waiting to announce FFX, Loudoun and Arlington all together, I'd say we probably would have to wait until next week. |
The original question quoted above is gone?? Anyhow, they've stated in the past info sessions that SOLs are not considered. During the current year, a lot of parents refused the SOL tests, so they wouldn't have the scores for all the kids, in any case. |
It is a guess.. |
If so, the result will be the best or worst father's day gift for this year! |
LOL a bit dramatic! Our local high schools are better than fine |
| How are they admitting students now? Is it lottery system or on merit basis. |
The top 1.5% of each MS are guaranteed admission if they apply. No one is sure how they are going to determine the top 1.5% at schools with lots of kids in the same classes and with the same grades. The remainder of the class will be selected by merit but no one is sure how that will work without the Quant test or teacher recommendations. All kids have to have a minimum of a 3.5 gpa and taken Algebra Honors. |
Wrong. The top 1.5% OF APPLICANTS from each school get offered admission. If you are in the 20% percentile and have a 3.5 GPA but on of the top 1.5% that applied from your school - you are in. |
Don't know where you're getting this idea that it's the top 1.5% of applicants. It's not. Each public MS gets a guaranteed number of slots equivalent to 1.5% of the 8th grade class, not the applicants. |
