good movies and TV shows for 13/14 year old girls

If you can find it, the 1955 version of "Night of the Hunter" is one of the best psychological thrillers ever made. It was not well received by critics or the public when it was first released but it is now used in filmmaking schools and is regarded as one of the best films ever made. Since it was made in black and white, not color, and takes place mostly after dark, I suggest you watch it in the evening after dinner.

One of the major film companies is planning a new version to be released in '22 or '23.

No disrespect but my 13 year old dd prefers to watch stuff alone. Hunter Hunter on Netflix. Greys Anatomy.

she will watch stuff with me sometimes - recently we watched all 5 seasons of Grimm.

Parks and Rec
Big Bang Theory
Brooklyn 99

If she likes Marvel stuff, Agent Carter is AMAZING.

Great post-war women’s history, along with a lot of Stark back story and Peggy Carter kicking serious butt while being heinously under-appreciated by the SSI.

I’d say you’d only need to have watched Captain America and have a passing familiarity with the first few Iron Man movies to really understand the nuances, but it’s still fun as a stand-alone show.

Big Shot is good and made in 2021. I find my teens don't love watching shows that came out a couple of years ago

We are watching the Israeli show Baker and the Beauty, and the Danish show Rita.

Are you streaming the Israeli version (Beauty and the Baker)? I did a search but keep coming up with the American remake (reverse title - Baker and the Beauty), which looks pretty terrible.

P.S. My 13 yo DD gave a hard pass to Dawson's Creek, too. But she loved Outer Banks.

Yes, the Israeli version on Prime. Sorry if I got the name wrong.

Designated Survivor

1. Things won't always turn out the way you expect, sometimes not the way you want.
2. Shit happens. What sets us apart is how we react and why we react that way.
3. Lessons in government are easier to take from fiction, especially when you're looking to see whether something is true or not.
4. Lessons in relationships are easier to take from fiction, especially when you can extrapolate to your own situation.
5. There's no one path to success.

I know she’d love Buffy, but some of the relationships are a bit intense and adult for this age. I thought about just doing the first season, but I know she’d never want to stop. I’m just not quite ready for the discussion some of the Spike-Buffy stuff would require. When she’s a bit older, though, it will be a great intro into discussions about consent and about sex and relationships and emotions.

Maybe Charmed?
