I think WE are a GP booster who posted all good things about GP yesterday on an STA thread (and tried to bash STA, of course).
I'm glad WE are not going to my DC's school. WE will be a PITA parent. |
Have any of you seen the common theme that flies among these St.Albans-affiliated threads? It occurs to me that their reaction to anything that potetially indicates that St. Albans is not the best, sets them off. There is reference on the St. Albans thread from someone on the attitude there. I think you are seeing it first hand here. |
| Wow -- use the wrong pronoun around here and you get accused of crimes against humanity. Lighten up everyone. Seriously, the insults are much worse than the original slip of the tongue. |
It's just that STA as a top school attracts a lot of bashers on these boards. That's why there are cross-references to the GP booster in the threads. |

Can we get back to the discussion of whether it's appropriate to refer to an acceptance as "we" or "he"? That was really fascinating and enormously helpful to me in determining where to send my child next year. Oh, and please don't get bogged down in what might be the best fit for our children here.
It's much better to really hammer away at a parent who inadvertently considers their son's acceptance to a school as their whole family's commitment to the school. I'd hate for any of us to feel that perhaps familial support was actually important in education. Yes, yes. The kids are on their own. Just give me a call when it's time for me to show up at graduation. |
Now, that was hilarious. Your response gave me a good laugh. Thanks for putting it in the right pespective. The person who brought up the WE argument just takes themselves a little too serious. |
| I agree with the poster that too many parents use "we". When "they" get to high school -- "they" (i.e. the kid) don't want their parents saying "we". When my kid got into an Ivy...it wasn't "we" -- it was "he". This part of "we"...i.e. "me" would not have gotten in. |
| OP Here. What a disaster this has turned into...this pretty much characterizes DC for you. |
I second that. |
Well, or at least it characterizes DCUM. There's a lot more to DC out there! |
| OP here. Anyone who was actually accepted to STA, Georgetown Prep, Landon who I can talk to? |
OP, the reply by date for GP was 3/17. The reply by date for Landon was today. The only outstanding date is STA. So it would seem that your decision has been made, right? |
Correction: actually both GP and Landon are 3/19. |
Good catch! I am just a teensy bit disappointed though because I was hoping the OP wasn't a total fraud and was indeed turing down a spot at St Albans so we'd have a shot at moving off the waitlist. But appears she is just a troll. May even just be a bored Prep kid. |
| I think that's an eclectic groups of schools for anyone to apply to. How many do folks usually apply to? |
