| Deconstructed charcuterie or wraps. My kids eat in 10-minute spurts at the end of every hour, and I eat when we get home if I’m in the mood for a real meal. |
|
I do a lot of tomato, basil, and mozzarella salad drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, with a warm piece of baguette; couscous salad (lemon vinaigrette on couscous, with red onion, feta, raisins, olives, and toasted pine nuts) with leftover grilled chicken on the side.
Or make tomato, avocado , shrimp with lime juice and cilantro, put into warm flour tortillas (warm them in foil until right before leaving, throw them into a thermal lunch bag). Those are my favorites. |
| We do roll-ups (turkey/swiss/mustard/lettuce), cold beef salad over noodles, and deviled eggs (which I love but kids admittedly hate). |
| Pizza. Dont over complicate. |
What does that have to do with anything? Who grills every time they go to the pool? |
I’m not OP but I’m not grilling multiple times a week. That’s way too much work for an evening at the pool. Isn’t that obvious? |
Having to pre-plan and bring raw meat. No thanks. |
In the summer I marinate packs of chicken tenders in italian dressing and freeze. I will thaw in fridge during the day and throw into cooler for easy pool grilling (our pool has a fridge by the grills so I stash it there until ready to grill, and ai leave a set of tongs in our pool bag). Hot dogs and hamburgers work easily, too. |

All these people eating soggy sandwiches and calling it dinner. Sounds awful.
We grill or order takeout to be delivered. |
| We either eat at home between work/camp and evening pool or we just get take out. We have a lovely (and inexpensive) but bare-bones pool with no grills and only ice cream bars in the snack shack. |
| We don’t do the pool late enough for dinner usually. If we did it would be pizza. But we do pack lunches. Sandwiches or wraps, goldfish and chips, grapes, idk I feel like there’s no reinventing the wheel here, this is what people have packed for outdoor hot days forever. |

I bring:
Cubed grilled chicken Cubed hard cheese Cucumber slices Cut up pita bread Hummus Grape tomatoes Watermelon Grapes Greek style pasta salad I have no desire to grill at the pool! |
Sorry you don’t know how to pack food properly

| I posted earlier, but we’ll likely have dinner at the pool three weeknights while swim team is in session, once camp has started. I’m thinking I’ll have a rotation, e.g., one night sandwiches, one night fruit/veggie/cheese/pepperoni kabobs with good bread, one night a hearty pasta salad, etc., just to take out some of the mental work of planning. If we do dinner there on weekends, we can grill or order pizza or whatever. This summer is the first swim team for us, so I’m hoping between camp, swimming, and the excitement of dinner at the pool, the kids will sleep soundly! |
Sorry you don’t know how to cook for your family properly. 😀 |
