Unless you mean privates and parochial, link the article because I know of no DCPS or charter school with students IPL at the beginning of this school year. |
Let's see the full email. |
I’ll provide the evidence even though you were rude about it for no reason. This article was only about charter schools, with a picture of Truth at the top. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/as-neighborhood-public-school-buildings-remain-closed-charters-begin-offering-in-person-learning-for-small-groups/2020/09/08/308ff3b4-ee99-11ea-ab4e-581edb849379_story.html%3foutputType=amp |
DCPS has clearly said they will be open 5 days a week. It’s DCUM that is assuming it’s not true but their words have not changed since Mayor announced it. |
| Let’s face it - the city is giving the charters no choice but to provide fulltime in person learning in the fall. They can’t give them any wiggle room on this bc the majority of them failed their students miserably this year by refusing to open when opening became possible. The charters are taking millions of dollars in post-pandemic money so they need to do their jobs. There is a lot of chatter about WTU but the fact is that charter teachers and staff also did not want to be in person this year. And charters prioritized the wants of their staff over the needs of the students and certainly did not follow the science. The whole system - charters included - failed our kids. We are at a charter and certainly no longer trust them or believe that their leadership is any good or that they are committed to doing their actual jobs of educating students. They should all be ashamed of themselves and they should not receive a single penny in taxpayer dollars of pandemic relief money if they do not open in the fall. There should be no distance learning other than for those who have medical exemptions. The mayor needs to be strong on this and not bend - we shall see. |
