?!? Who gets freaked out by shootings in the city if they don’t live there? You people are nuts. |
| There's just too many guns out there and too many people not fit to have guns. So the shooters are known to the relatives of this couple? What senseless killings. What a tragedy this is for their son and everyone that knew and cared for this couple. |
Start with this whole thread on a mother/child shot on P Street started by a suburbanite who moved out of the city and therefore far more than 4 miles away from this central location. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/974492.page |
From the what the police are-and-aren't saying the shooters are known to the 19-year-old son. Should be interesting to see how. |
The description by the police of a prior "burglary" and dispute is really vague, but I'm going to speculate that the son got crosswise with someone, the parents were trying to work it out/get that person off their property and charged, and the person came back. Just a tragic aspect over our gun culture. |

Just heard a report that one person of interest and another suspect are in custody.
Press conference scheduled for later today. |
Thanks for the update. |
Sounds very plausible. I wonder if he was a drug dealer. |
Or maybe he sold shoes to the wrong person like the kid a few blocks away who murdered 2 of his classmates? Either way RIP to those parents. They didn't deserve this. |
| Is there some kind of suburban gangster culture in South County? That's a lot of teen/young adult homicides for that area. |
The wife was retired; she was a nurse. |

If the son had anything to do with this - he should be charged. This is horrible. That 19-year-old had two highly successful parents both with military ties. He could have gone into a officer-ranked career in any of the armed forces with ease.
Colonel McDaniel was the exec medicine doctor at Fort Belvoir and all his patients are military generals. He was one of the best most caring doctors I knew. He and his wife were shot point blank in their front yard. I hope his shooter rots in hell. - from twitter |

On a dispatch call to responding officers, a dispatcher can be heard saying the caller and her husband were upstairs with a shotgun in their home. “The subject” was in the basement.
“Caller is advising the subject is after her son and that he is with them upstairs,” the dispatcher said. Two days later, the parents, not the son, were killed. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/man-suspected-of-killing-couple-in-springfield/2685164/ |
