| So... a panini with potatoes in it? |
It’s fast food and originated from the projects. It sounds delicious. It’d make a killing in DC! |
Where in Baltimore? My vegetarian DD and her carnivore BF would love this. |
|
This guy made them here at home in the States. I’m intrigued by the Algerian sauce : ketchup, mayonnaise, onions and ras el hanout .

It’s infuriating to me that the article does not include an actual photo of the food. Wtf. |
Definitely a panini! Can put anything in it. For potato lovers... diced potatoes, eggs, onions, butter and cheese. Easily the Italian meatless Friday "poor man's" meal in our house long ago. The key is the bread! And a good panini press. |
It’s the New Yorker, not Washingtonian. They don’t do photo spreads. |
Since they included an illustration, surely they could have managed a single photo of the food that they dedicated an entire article to? |
|
Here’s a recipe.
Basically a grilled burrito with fries in it, not rice. https://youtu.be/Ay0Rw7an8-0 |
OP, no clue, but am I allowed to gloat that I read the article a couple weeks ago and therefore have kept up with my New Yorker subscription?
|
|
OP here - not gloating - just have not heard about these before the article and figured it would be the best way to explain it. AND I am so far behind on reading the dang things!
This board is ridiculous - half of the people tell you to do the things that you googled already and the other half criticize you. . . |
You’ve obviously never read the New Yorker. Again, they don’t do photos. Perhaps you could try this new thing called “google image search”? |
Actually, I read the New Yorker online all the time, and they do indeed have photos. But thanks for your input, weirdly-butthurt PP! |
OP, I was just kidding! It's the rare moment I'm reading the current NYer, not backlogged, so I was just entertained to know what you were referring to b/c I'd read the article. Sorry I don't have any suggestions. |
| Ooooh this is like calling your pizzas "tarte flambees" |
