Tutors?

PP this is OP- look at the lab school website, they are looking to hire tutors for the summer but your friend must first go through their training.
Also, LindaMood Bell is doing the same - I believe.

Ha--I can assure that the teachers who do the tutoring aren't earning $152,000 a year. They probably pocket $30-$35 of the $95.00 fee. The rest goes to Stixrud et al.

Private special education tutors with a Master's degree charge about $50.00 per hour in my area (northern VA).

Not exactly. I tutor, and also teach. For tutoring, I'm paid only the hours I'm in the room with the child. I don't get paid for lesson planning, or driving to the session, or days I'm sick or the child is sick, or talking to a teacher on the phone. I also pay for the things I use. If I wanted to work the same number of hours as a tutor as I do as a teacher (about 50 a week) I'd need to be scheduled for about 25 hours a week, with each kid actually making it about 45 weeks a year. At the rate I get paid that would be $90,000 which sounds like a lot, but given that I would have to pay for my own health insurance, malpractice insurance, retirement contribution, employee contribution to medicaid . . . I'm not sure it would be a huge pay jump.
