Laura

I love Laura. I can't think of a little Laura I know. And Laura Bush is widely recognized as a classy lady, so don't see how that's an issue. I personally don't like Melanie but wouldn't think anything bad if I heard someone named their daughter that.

My sister is named Laura and I’ve always love it! It seems classic to me. She is in her late 40’s now.

I know a baby Laura born last year and when I got the birth announcement I thought what a great choice. Classic w/o being overused; it felt fresh!

I just looked it up - Melanie is just below 100 on the list and Laura is in the 300s.

I know a couple little Lauras as well as some Melanies under 20.

I’m an adult Laura and I love my name! I think it’s due for a comeback.

Uh...Dern, Mercier, Linney, Branigan, Ingalls Wilder, Spencer...what's your point?

I love the name Laura, especially if pronounced as in Italian or Spanish, but even if that doesn't work for you, OP, it's still a lovely name.

Laura is a great name, OP.

I'm not crazy about Melanie, which is a completely different genre and feel from Laura...

Lara is trending in Australia. My sister is Laura and pronounces it like Lara.

Love it! I’m a 40-something Lauren and love Laura, Lauren, Lara, Maura, Mauren, and Melanie. I could see Melanie being so sweet on a little girl.

I love Melanie! And it’s less popular than Laura.
