Dart at the bottom of the V. (I've taken shoulders in, but taking in at the V is more effective.)
If you can't do that yourself, use a scarf. Put the scarf on under the dress (you can tuck it into your bra straps), tuck it into the middle of your bra, and use a discreet safety pin or two to pin it in place. I like this more than a cami or lace panel because it keeps the flattering v neckline of the dress. |

I've done the cami/low tank look before. It can look nice depending on the style of the dress (and I think the V with a flat bottom is actually very flattering -- sort of a cross between a portrait neckline and a v-neck).
I've also just put a brooch right above where the V meets, which adds a little extra height and keeps it from gaping. |
I feel like if you replaced the word boobs with penis, this statement would still be true, but I definitely would not be happy with the result. You can argue about whether breasts are unfairly sexualized (although most women do consider them fairly sexual), and whether its dumb to make distinctions between male and female breasts (although most women do so, w/r/t sexual harassment and other situations) -- but I don't think the fact that most people have seen them and half the population has them makes them necessarily appropriate for showing off in all situations. |
NP. I never thought of doing that. What a great idea! |
