Privates don’t usually rise in 1st “non expansion year” and those who “covid fled” are considering coming back. Also those who can afford to move to IB are doing so. There’s a lot of moving pieces and nobody really knows. When you get offered a spot you’ll only have a few days to decide. |
We knew all of one family that left Murch during the pandemic, and it was a move that had been planned before coronavirus hit. |
| There is a lot of chatter and wild exaggeration on this board. There isn’t a huge exodus out of these upper nw schools. Its mostly trolls trying to start drama. You will like whatever school you get it, but I wouldn’t count on getting in |
| OP, have you visited them? You can at least assess the outdoor space part for yourself. I think they all have thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that maximize use and educational opportunities for outdoor learning, and Mann is very good at outdoor learning. Murch and Lafayette are community hubs, and there is always something fun going on. |
+1. OP, you won’t get Mann. Maybe Eaton if there is an ‘exodus’ underway. |
| How has Mann done with reopening? Are they open 4 days/week? |
| We just got offers today at Mann for 3rd and 1st. 3rd was #1 on the waitlist and pulled in 1st grade sibling. We have until 6/3 to accept. |
| Are they offering tours to help you decide? Are you leaning towards taking the spots? |

We are IB at Hyde and played the lottery for K. We got an offer from Mann this week for K.
However, we will probably just stay IB. |
| Curious: are you picking Hyde because of the commute? Why did you initially put Mann on your lottery list? They seem different but it’s probably more diverse at Hyde. |
| Also interested to hear differences between Hyde and Mann. We got an offer at Mann but also have a low number for Hyde. |
Honestly, this is our first year here so we wanted to have more viable options. However, my commute to Hyde is better. Also I reached out to both schools to get information and Hyde was more responsive about curriculum: talked to other parents, and they seem to like Hyde. And yes, diversity is important as well. |
