Tess Holiday reveals she is anorexic (don't click if easily triggered)

It's not at all uncommon for anorexics in recovery to continue to struggle with food in some way and some of them do go on to gain a lot of weight, through eating behaviors and having messed up their metabolism for years.

She's been obese for years and years. She recently lost 100 lbs by "basically not eating" and has recovered. She said she wants her fans to not comment on her weight because she's not triggered but someone else might be.

Tbh, she sounds triggered and like she needs to find a new line of work, since currently her job revolves around her weight.

How can she be obese and anorexic?

Also, if she doesn't want attention and comments, she shouldn't be on social media.

I thought anorexia was being extremely thin and not eating , not what she is.

Anorexia is just eating nothing or too little over an extended period of time. An obese person could be anorexic for a couple of months and still be obese.

That's not really anorexia though. Anorexia implies lack of control (or in a way, severe control issues) due to extreme dysmorphic issues. Deliberately eating very little for a few months is essentially a crash diet. Not healthy, but also not anorexic.

I guess it depends on why the person is doing it and how obsessive they are about it. If they find it hard to quit the crash diet or food refusal, I think most doctors would consider that anorexia.

I also thought "anorexic" is a physical condition, for example extremely underweight due to compulsive food restriction or malnutrition.

When was this?!

It's sad when you can lose 100lbs, and no one really notices.

She looks like a chubby Lindsay Lohan in those pictures.

She’s always been a strange attention whore.

LOOOOOOOOOL Yeah, right.

She's the woman that's been saying 'big is happy' for years on Instagram. Now she's anorexic?

Wow. She actually HAS lost some weight. July 2020 versus May 2021. But I'm guessing, like a lot of morbidly obese people, Covid really terrified her into doing it.

This woman actually said do not comment on my body at all? And then posts..... those pictures? What the AF?

No, it isn't. There's a psychological component.

Agreed. "Look at me!!" But don't comment.

uhhhmmmmm is that based on an old article? Because judging by the photos she has beat the hell out of her anorexia.

Tess' only job is being a plus-sized model. Her ex-husband doesn't work. She really shot herself in the foot because it requires her to be pretty 'open' about her body - far more so than a traditional glam model like say the Hadids because she can't do runway.

Anyway - I'd guess her psychological issues are also coming into play there. If she loses enough weight to be normal-sized I guarantee her six-figure income is going bye-bye. No one's hiring the girl next door for campaign shoots and the only thing Tess had going was a pretty face on a huge body.

She's going to have flabby skin issues, sagging boobs, bad diastasis and flapping jowls. Even correcting it under the surgeon's knife won't make her runway material.

She is essentially now being forced to chose living (I think the doctors would have told her chances with Covid were less than 5%) over financial security. She's also a single mom and trying to date while massively obese.
