Reviewing the record, they lost two games by one goal each to the top team in the nation, which also has several players who were invited to the recent YNT training. The one draw against Loudoun in a game that I heard MYS dominated but didn't execute on multiple chances. There is room for new players but this is a team that will qualify for ECNL national playoffs. If you can play, then there is probably room but this is not Loudoun, Arlington, Bethesda or BRYC. |
You are an idiot. There are players at the 05 level who will replace starting ECNL players around the area. ECNL does not have a monopoly on the best players. |
Hi Karen, Just because your DD made ECNL at U13, she is not entitled to a position on the team until she graduates. The best ECNL clubs will rotate talented players in every year. |
Richmond, while good, is probably not the top team in the nation - YSR has them eighth, a whole goal behind the top 3 which is a significant margin. And all teams have games where they don't execute on multiple chances. McLean is a good team, ranked third in the state. There are doubtless many good players on the roster. But to suggest that the entire roster is so strong that none of them can be replaced is silly. There are relatively better teams which could not make that claim - and it is quite possible they are better because [b]they do not[b] make that claim and instead welcome new players on to the roster, wherever they come from, each season. |
Communication has never been a strong point at McLean. It's not an excuse, but if you sit back and wait for comm, you'll be left out. |
And they will come from other ECNL teams. |
| Has anyone received an invite from McLean for the new sessions for outside players only starting May 1? |
We keep them all at Loudoun. It’s not like we beat teams left and right so we can’t afford to lose our magnificent talent (and of course the $ that come wit it!)
|
Then why are they at all the ID sessions??? The lack of communication is inexcusable, OP. You have every right to be furious about that. But I see this alliance as working out pretty equally for both sides: McLean has the clearly stronger girls and SYC has the clearly stronger boys. McLean boys are going to lose their spots as much as SYC girls. |
| If your player is not a starter on any of the boys or girls McLean ECNL teams, your player is at risk of being replaced. |
| I disagree, bloated rosters will just get bigger. 35-45 per top ecnl team just to keep stringing kids and parents along. Enjoy trips to NC to watch you DC play 10 mins |
Maybe they want to play both, or maybe those aren’t top boys. |
My post never indicated that there are players on McLean who can't be replaced. I made the counter argument. My post was focused on the quality of the team's record. |
Well I said “doubt” and not likely to play much. I didn’t say it wasn’t possible. If you think you’re kid is good enough then they should go for it. Why not? |
Same for SYC boys: There has been nothing stopping the SYC BOYS from trying out for MYS ECNL previously, so what is the new incentive for older BOYS at SYC to suddenly decide to try out? As such, why would one expect there to be that many older boys currently at McLean capable of making the alliance team? |
