Do you agree with this undergrad list

List is OK except for 1b. FORGET Penn College of Arts and Sciences. It is non-descript, not special at all in its organization, and nothing like the stellar academic input of Columbia or U Chicago for undergraduates. ( Wharton for business is excellent but that is a separate category for business studies).

Also, Dartmouth and Brown are better than Northwestern.

holy who cares, batman.

No...

Best undergraduate, I changed my mind a bit...
1. Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, MIT, Yale

1b. Columbia, Caltech, Upenn, U Chicago

2. Duke, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth

2b. Brown, Williams, Amherst

3?. Vanderbilt, Cornell, Swarthmore, Rice, Pomona,

3b?. Emory, Notre Dame, WashU, Georgetown, Bowdoin, UCLA, UCB, CMU

4. UVA, Umich, Tufts, Wellesley, USC, UNC, CMC

I think 3 and 3b is splitting hairs.

FFS, the entire list is an exercise in splitting hairs.

No. Actually, my kid goes to a LAC in the top 25 or so. Great scores. Could have gone somewhere “better ranked” but was not interested in the competition because high school was crazy competitive.

I’m fascinated by the ranking categories. Why not 1, 2, 3 and 4? Do you really need tiers within 1 and 2? What do they signify? If 2a and 2b are really a realm below 1a and 1b, why sully your list with them?

Maybe. But PLENTY of "mature adults" think like this, and travel in circles where they desperately need to feel they are at the top and make sure others know about it. It's an odd dichotomy to be rich and successful and adult and still act in a juvenile mindset in many ways, but it is absolutely a thing.

I am an immature adult. I am reading this list because I can't get a hot date for Friday evening. I need to amuse myself somehow.

Ok this is a teen.

Excusable.

There is not a school on that list, nor a ton not mentioned, that will not give your child a stellar education and great career.

Do not assume it is a teen.

At major law firms, plenty of us bantered like this as a way to relieve stress. Plus, insecurity about being the best.
