Ruggable Regret

I read the reviews and people really complained after they washed it. The corners would not lay flat. I just buy rugs on Overstock for cheap and throw them out.

If you're looking for an alternative to ruggable, try an indoor/outdoor rug. I had planned to buy a ruggable before reading the reviews on this site but I ended up going with an indoor/outdoor. While I can't put it in the washer, it's really easy to clean stains out of it (I have a dog lol).

I have a runner and have washed it many times. No issues but I can see a larger rug being a problem.

+1. We have an indoor/outdoor rug from Ballard under our dining room table and I love it. Easy to clean, easy to vacuum, and looks nice (we don't have a super formal dining room).

I have to switch my Dyson to the lower speed (not max) and have no issues vacuuming it. Maybe the larger size rugs are more finicky? But for a kitchen runner, I’ve found mine to be great.

We're on Team Runner too. It's in the kitchen so it's probably washed every month or two because our kids like to cook and bake. It's lasted a year so far without any problems.

Same - we got one runner for the kitchen, one for the hallway. Both a giant PIA to set down the first time. We've washed the kitchen one a couple times, no problems there. Haven't washed the hallway one yet. I like that they stay put on my tile floors. (Hideous tile that came with the house.) I don't think I would get a really big one because I'd get too frustrated trying to lay it flat after washing to bother washing it much - I'd sooner get cheap rugs I just don't care that much about, and can replace if needed.

I've got three: two 8x10s and one 3x5 in front of the entry way. I've washed each of them at least 5 times (we have 2 dogs including a huge Newfoundland/Lab mix and a diabetic minature poodle mix that gets a UTI every 6 months or so). Don't have any problems or curling but they have faded a bit - which I expected. I've order 3x5 for my siblings entry ways (love the star wars rugs) and they haven't had any issues either.

Different rugs, different experiences, I guess.

I have two of their 5x7 rugs. One in the basement and the other in my kid's room. Both have washed up fine. The basement one does have the problem with curling at the ends. There is a bed and chair on two of the corners of the one in the kid's room and that seems to keep them down. I put a book on one corner for a few days the last time I washed it to keep it from curling up. I do need help to put the rug back on the pad after washing but me and my husband can do it no issue. I was really glad to have it during potty training! So I'll take those little negatives. My only big complaint is that the the rug and rug pad are so thin but i got an email saying they have new cushioned rug pads now.

For those of you with the 8x10, do you have giant washing machines?

I have the biggest HE that Whirlpool makes. It fits in without a problem.

There are washable rugs other than Ruggable, for those of you who literally throw rugs away after two to three years. That’s just nauseating to read.

Another shout out for indoor outdoor rugs from Ballards.

Yes but they’re all hideous. Some of us have kids and pets and don’t want to keep old gross rugs around.

Any cotton rug is washable. Certainly every cotton rug you've encountered is not hideous. Our main living room rug is Dash and Albert and has held up well. And it's washable.

I have kids and pets and don’t throw away rugs every 2-3 years. That is insanely wasteful. Can you imagine the landfills piling up with rugs if everyone were to do that! Why not hire a rug cleaning company once a year or so to maintain what you have?
