Agree with you about the pie, but there are low-class desserts. Carvel ice cream cakes come to mind.

Fudgie the Whale transcends all class lines and is unifying. Stop it.

Like everything else, it depends on the details. Is it topped with Cool whip or whipped cream? Are using fresh coconut or dried, sweetened flakes?

Have you heard of strawberry pretzel pie?
I once got ripped apart in here for suggesting a dessert made with cool whip.

It is likely they made it with Jello pudding mix. Any pie that could be made with jello pudding mix was popular mid-century in all social classes except maybe upper class that had kitchen staff

I bought a coconut cream pie a few weeks ago at a local pie shop. It reminds me of my Nana!

All pies are a lower class dessert. Same with any form of chicken. And any box cake or brownies.

I believe you mean strawberry pretzel salad. And it is so delicious.

What? No. It’s delicious. Yum. Especially with white claw.

I love coconut cream pie! To me it evokes memories of a Southern picnic or NJ diner

I grew up a wasp in Rhode Island, btw.

If I get labelled as low class for eating coconut cream pie, I am okay with that.

I love coconut cream pie. I make it all the time and had no idea it was old fashioned or declasse.
