haha I will take that as a slam on my kids test scores. You do not know the whole story on either child and what they brought to the table beyond that. Their GPA and class rank put them solidly in the running and their scores were within the range for our school's historical acceptances. I know several kids from our school with higher test scores, but lower GPAs, who did not get in. UVA is VERY focused on GPA and class rank for their instate. But yes, moral of the story is to definitely apply ED if you're interested in UVA. I do completely agree with that statement. |
| Apply ED for UVA because the school is more concerned about yield than actually the welfare of top students. |

| Penn State for CS. 4.5 wGPA. 1460 SAT |
| CNU - 1390 SAT, 4.0 W GPA with about 10 APs with $20K in scholarship. |
Total, or per year? |
| UVA - 35/1560, 4.0/4.85 will major in chemistry. |
| UMD - Comp sci honors, 4.7W, 35 ACT, in-state |
| Amazing!!! No parent on DCUM has a kid who scores less than 34 ACT and has 10 APs. SMH! |
Well mine did. 33ACT w 5 APs. |
Well, of the ones who post. My senior is still deciding. It is excruciating. |
| ha well not true, i posted my kids very normal SAT/ACT scores... no fancy $2000 prep courses, just a few hours of Khan. They both would have retaken them if they had all not been cancelled last summer but oh well, all worked out! |

Trying to choose between UVA, UCLA, W&M.
1420/4.61 GPA W (4.0 UW). Kid wants UCLA -- I said appeal the finaid decision. But is leaning to UVA vs. W&M. Personally, I think W&M is a better fit and worried kid is basing this on selectivity rather than fit. But ultimately it's kid's decision. |
That sounds like the presidential leadership which is $5k a year. |
If W&M a better fit than UVA, then probably a much better fit than UCLA which is the largest of the 3. Remind your child they can go to CA for grad school if still interested! Also, imo as a partner on my firm’s hiring committee, W&M is just as prestigious as UVA. |
