I exercise daily but find any type of instructor-run class to be annoying. I don't want to be subjected to 6 Peloton commercials during my hour of watching TV on the treadmill. 30 seconds of these overly enthusiastic people yelling at me is 30 seconds too much. |
Sounds like the History channel sold a lot of airtime to Peloton. I don't see many Peloton commercials on network TV or the cable channels I watch. However, I have noticed that commercials in general are getting so repetitive these days. Each channel just runs the same commercials over and over again. |
As others have noted, the issue here is not with Peloton, but with the volume of Peloton commercials. I love my Peloton and use it daily, but I also get annoyed by the commercials. It seems to be the way with streaming services- whether it is Peloton, a diabetes medication, Depends, or a fast food restaurant- they all seem to come bunched together. I always wonder about that. It can't be the desired effect. Isn't the point to hit a wide audience of people?
I really don't understand why this thread is an us v. them of Peleton lovers and haters. |
DP. Not sure why you think Peloton is just a fad. It's been around for 5 years. You're probably only hearing about it so much in the past year because of its boost in popularity due to the pandemic. Also, I don't necessarily think moving on to the next thing is bad when it comes to fitness. Sometimes people get burned out from a particular activity because it starts to feel repetitive, some people end up with injuries and have to find another activity, sometime people's interests change over time, and yes, some people are just in it because it's getting a lot of buzz. This applies to any sport or athletic activity. |
Maybe get a life OP + get triggered by something that hurts society. I do not have a Pelaton but they are getting a lot of people through the pandemic in a healthy way. I think you are jealous + annoyed you cannot afford one |
. Not sure if they are losers, but unatletic for sure. |
You should stop watching tv while on the treadmill and use your hour to do a workout that is actually challenging and requires all your mental energy to be focused on the activity and not quitting until you've hit your hour. |
I have a different stationary bike, but honestly who cares if Peloton people are obsessed with it? I can think of a million other things that are worse to be upset with. |
Not PP, but wow, your post sure is presumptuous. You have no idea what kind of workout PP is getting. And not every workout should be super challenging and require "all of your mental energy." Some people need to get their minds OFF of what they are doing depending on the nature of that particular workout. |
+1 |
I still can't forget the hostage wife ad that was pre-pandemic. I still haven't figured that crazy thing out.
Good for those that can afford them. I'll stick with my YouTube videos, 17 yo treadmill and bowflex maxtrainer that we got from someone off craigslist. |
I’m a mechanical engineer. If I wanted a stationary bike I could build my own. And use it to charge my UPS via resistance generation with a DC induction motor feeding sine wave rectified direct current from a permanent magnet armature. Do I still sound like I can’t afford your human-hamster-wheel toy? When I want to ride a bicycle, I have one. A real bicycle that actually travels someplace when I impart physical energy into it. |
I know exactly what kind of workout one gets while watching reruns of CSI:SVU on the treadmill and stewing about all the Peloton commercials. Might as well be on the couch. |
I love my Peloton. It got me through the pandemic. When I bought it, I thought as long as the cost per month through about now made sense I'd be ok. Even if I moved on. Turns out my company is moving to primary WFH. On those days, I'm not going to commute to a gym for a total of 1.75 hours after work, ill just ride at home. |
Oh! I got a feeeeling now that time is on my siiiiiiide |
