DCI college acceptances

Students are accepted at 9 of the 10 schools they apply to? [if true - that is unheard of this year]

This is what the email says: "To date, 90% of our students have received at least one college acceptance (with students still waiting for decisions)"

How large is the graduating class?

Actually, there are at least two ivy admissions so far (in early decisions). The regular decisions don't come out until April. Also, I see Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, Ga Tech, UCLA and Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr on naviance acceptances for this year.

And Bucknell, Elon, UMD, Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, UMass and more.

And Virginia Tech, Purdue, UNCs, UCBoulder, too.

The students in class of 2021 are some DCI’s strongest students. The acceptances are more of a reflection on them rather than the school.

This is great! Go DCI!

Actually, no. Ivy's are a crap shoot for everyone, and they will only take so many from a region.

This. Also top legacy kids are the ones that typically get in, usually not top non-legacy kids.

LOL! People say DCI doesnt have strong top students and then you say the students are strong and not the school.

You can’t have it both ways you naysayers.

Nobody says there aren’t strong different. We say there are strong students that aren’t adequately challenged by the weak academics. Really glad to see these kids do so well and hope they’re adequately prepared for more rigor in college.

Different = students. Thanks, autocorrect

Just Stop. My kids don’t attend but these results should make the students and the school
proud. We should all celebrate the fact that there is another city wide option in which motivated kids can succeed. All families can’t move to neighborhoods with high performing public schools. Likewise, most families cannot afford private. It feels great to know that there is another free option available to kids from all over the city. I am cheering you on DCI!! Way to go Class of 2021! This DC resident is proud of you!

+1 million. Glad to see these results and another viable middle/high school for EOTP families. There are too few of these to begin with in the city.

Not really. The Legacy admit rate for the toughest Ivies to get into (Harvard, Yale, Columbia) are only in the teens. It’s a common misconception that Ivy legacies enjoy great advantages in Icy admissions.
