| kid's friend got a job paying 170k right after graduation w/ UMD CS degree. not bad. |
| Okay, take the MSU offer and run! The honors dorm Lyman-Briggs is great and the ancillary support is wonderful. there are so many bonuses to Honors. There are plenty of flights on Delta to DTW. East Lansing is no Ann Arbor but anecdotally, all the grads I know in Physics & Supply Chain Mgmt, to name two majors, had their pick of jobs. Good luck |
| Congrats to your son! Great options. If he’ll be happy either place I say follow the money to MSU. ~ UMD employee and alumna (who followed the money to UMD) |
What company is that? |
| I would go with MSU. DH went there and got a great education, had a great time, and got a full ride through grad school in this area (through PHD). You've got 4 kids to get through college and into life. Go with the free option. |
This. Not even a choice really. |
| UMD much better school. Much higher stats. Much higher ranked in all national and world rankings. |
One of those big tech in CA. Think Google, MS, FB...etc. |
Not normal. |
In CS, no one cares. |
MSUs campus is gorgeous. You're just a Midwest hater which is fine , don't come. |
Don't know about East Lansing, but have been to College Park. The campus is so so. |
Michigan is freezing and dark during the school year. University of Michigan reports 26 percent of students consider suicide and East Lansing is even further north. Give me happy, healthy, normal CP. |
| This is a no brainer- you take the FREE RIDE! In the end they are both just big 10 schools with worthwhile degree programs. Save any money you might have (and / or his credit worthiness for loans) for possible grad school. Your other children will be grateful later! |
