Fascinating. |
Seriously? You have to study theology for a while to get an simple answer? Lots of people believe in God and few study theology |
He had to start somewhere, right? But seriously, if he's omnipotent, you'd think he'd have a better plan. This plan sounds like something Jews made up to make themselves feel special. At the time, little did they know that the Catholics would come along and decree that Catholicism was the one true religion and start murdering the Jews like crazy, even though their savior was a Jew. |
No, you don't have to study theology, but at least reading the Old Testament might be a start (albeit one that most self-professed "Christians" aren't willing to take). OP's musing makes it seem like OP doesn't even have the most superficial understanding of what, say, Exodus says about god's relationship with Israel. Seriously, I wonder what the results would be if you could get a truly accurate % of Christians who have actually read the Bible -- not just sat in church and have it read to them one Sunday at a time. I think way less than half, certainly if you include the Old Testament. I'm consistently amazed at the Biblical illiteracy of people who claim to be devout. |
Who are we in humanity to say it's not a good plan? God's timing is not our timing. And yes, to the PP, Christians also recognize that God offered Himself to be known to all people but it was the Jewish people who chose Him first. |
And then the Catholics came along and God told them they were in charge now and should murder and subjugate the Jews. Whenever we humans question God's actions it usually leads to confusion, because it seems as though God does some crazy, silly, cruel or stupid things sometimes. That's because the mind of God is too complex for us mere humans to understand. Or perhaps there is no God. |
