Beach lurker here. So, I would say we are definitely better than ECNL-R. We played some full ECNL clubs in a tournament last fall and beat one and tied the other. If we went ECNL I know we wouldn't be at the top, but maybe middle of the pack. Depends on the age group and gender though. Some would fare better than others. I don't think the club is moving in that direction though. I have not heard anything that would lead me to believe we are changing leagues this coming year.
You beating an ECNL club is not the same as beating an ECNL team. Two totally different things.
What do you mean? My kid's team played against two other ECNL teams in their age group. They weren't ECNL-R teams. They were ECNL.
I mean that you can play a team from an ECNL club and the team not be ECNL.
07 and below parents still don’t understand that none of this matters until after puberty. Half the kids you know will be gone
Ok I get what you mean. Best I could tell they were their top team from their club and that age group plays in the ECNL league. They weren't from NOVA though, so probably not as good as the teams up there.
ECNL teams are not as powerful until puberty and consolidation occur. Typically, for girls, starting around U15. At U13 and U14, it’s a fair field.
That consolidation doesn't happen for us like it would for teams around DC. We have two CCL teams and no ECNL. We have Beach and Rush. A lot of the consolidation has already happened at U13. The better players usually go from Rush to Beach, but some stay at Rush for their own reasons. There are a few players on Rush that I wish we had, but it's not enough to make us be able to beat DC teams on a regular basis. You have to think of the size of the metro areas. DC has 6+ times the population of this area. Reallly more though, because the peninsula kids will be more likely to go to Richmond than VB to play on a better team. So for every one solid soccer player we produce, you will have 6 to 8, maybe more. Also, Beach doesn't move players around as much. I wish they would though, but it's not their style. There are at least 3 kids I would drop from my son's team and pick up from the second team, but I doubt it will happen. It's not because they are inferior kids, but their heart isn't in it. Either way, I like the drama of this forum. It's also a good scouting tool for some of the teams we face. You guys change teams more than you change your underwear. It's hard to keep on top of.
