Beach FC (VA) -- Staying with CCL or moving to GA/ECNL?

Yes that makes sense. It's just a long way we go for a lot of travel soccer, but that is a good thing in some ways. A place like DC has a high population and a lot of talent. Talent doesn't always make the team though. Competition can take many forms. You can play a lesser talented team 5 hours away, but if they can play a low block well, you might be lucky to win 1-0. Did your players learn anything? Maybe some did. I see "players" in most of the teams we face. There is usually one who I'm like "damn, wish we had him on our team.". That is the cool part though. There are other kids outside of DC who can play, but if we sit in the bubble then we don't see what else is out there. Not just players, but styles of play. You can have an ECNL league in NOVA and MD alone, but you might be trapped in a certain play style that only works here.

Those are good points but I don't think even here there's enough talent for a whole league. How many teams can truly give the top teams a good game? Taking the boys - Arlington, Bethesda, Baltimore and Richmond will all give each other a good game at most age groups. You could probably add Pipeline to that group, although they're not quite as consistent across age groups. After that there's a definite drop in level. Games against McLean, Loudoun, especially BRYC, and at some age groups even VDA are frequently very one-sided. And yes on occasion a one-sided game doesn't produce a one-sided scoreline - and the kids can probably learn something from a one-sided game as you suggest. But they sure learn more from a well-balanced, competitive game.

Don’t all the good Beach area players already get picked up by RU ? Or is that too far ?

Usually ECNL pairs up travel weekends so you play get two games for a weekends travel. Makes for fewer trips during the year.

The trouble with VA beach is it doesn't pair with any other team/location. It's a pain to go 4 hrs to VA beach for one game, and although I expect they are used to it, ECNL travel would be a nightmare for a VA beach team.

Yes, a little too far. Richmond is a long way to go in afternoon traffic through the tunnel. They can get the kids from the peninsula and north, but very few VB area kids will make that trip multiple times a week.

Well we have to play you guys all the time, so might as well keep up with what is going on up.there. We don't have as much drama as Nova has, because we have zero ECNL and only two clubs that the better players migrate to. Beach is a good club though. We don't have the amount of good players as you all do, but we get by. You have less holes in your lineups. We can field 4 or 5 good players on a team. DC teams will have 7-9. It makes a big difference.
