Basically it’s game over - the rates are extremely low, lower for kids in school than out of school, and vast majority are coming from staff, not kids. DCPS needs to mandate staff vaccination and reopen fully.
I appreciate this, but this is already well known, and that did not stop them from keeping schools closed. As for the person wondering how they could not plan for IPL in the fall, I am worried that they have no plan for distance learners. Other districts created a distance learning academy and private schools are using Simulcast, where DL students participate in the classroom via webcam. Apparently the DCPS teachers would prefer not to use Simulcast, so few schools piloted it, because it is more work. Teachers may prefer to have a dedicated distance learning classroom, but all of these dedicated distance learning classrooms create a logistical nightmare for schools, where once again they have to divide students into different categories by classroom, not know if the IPL classrooms with be too crowded for distancing with teacher changes throughout the year. They need to plan five days a week and be transparent about their plan.
