How to relatively gracefully exit a first date?

I always use the I have to get home to let the dog out excuse. Even though I have a dog walker and really don't need to race home, lol.

Even with a coffee it can really drag on especially if the service isnโ€™t great at the cafe. I met for a happy hour drink yesterday and the empty glasses were in front of us for awhile. I totally flubbed it instead of saying I have to go bye! I said I have to put more money in my meter bc I felt bad to end the conservation. Yikes I know I need to work on this people pleasing habit and give more weight to my own preferences. Any tips?

1. Practice. You need to learn to prioritize your own time over others, especially after you've set expectations (most people know that coffee at 3p ends at 4 and HH drink at 5 ends at 6).

2. Leave 'em wanting more. If you like them, an hour means the second date is exciting. If you don't, you're doing both of you a favor.

Make sure the first date is a simple coffee date.

Secretly call a friend, then have her call your cell phone letting you know that your house is on fire.

Pray ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ that the nearest restrooms have windows.
