APS transparency improving

Can someone explain where to click on the dashboard to get to this info? It’s helpful to see and I’d like to check it in the future.

I feel like this is not helpful. Did these people go to school? Did they just fill out the screener? Were they in virtual? Not enough data!

My friend had a cold last week. He got a test and was waiting results so he didn't get a green check and then they wanted the kids to get tested (all negative). Does that kind of thing show up in the data.

Go to the APS COVID-19 dashboard on the website: https://www.apsva.us/school-year-2020-21/aps-covid-19-dashboard/

In the table titled "Employee & Student Exclusion," there are 2 hyperlinks, one for employees and one for students. Those are the links to the qualtrics reports that OP posted.

Anyone have the latest stats?

I agree, this doesn’t suggest transparency in any helpful way. We don’t even know if someone just accidentally clicked yes on something in the screener. And the whole point of the Qualtrics thing is, if someone clicks yes, they don’t get the green check to come in. So we could be looking at a bunch of people who got covid wherever, or who just didn’t want to go to work/school.

This doesn't tell us much because we don't know that any of those positive cases are among students or staff who were physically back in school. Lots of people going back next week are already filling out the screenings.

Staff has its own report. These are students.

How did you get the link? A static link to one day's data doesn't help anyone who wants to monitor this going forward.

Your response also still does not address the fact that there is no way of knowing from this whether the diagnosed students were ever in the building, so you may be needlessly scaring people at the schools you mentioned.

Here's the link to the employee data. I don't control the data -- esp given that I don't work for APS or the data company -- so I can't speak to its limitations or correct them. If you have issues with the information, take it up with APS. I got the information through the dashboard.

How cynical and crappy of you to assume a negative intent behind posting the information. FFS, don't blame the messenger just because you don't like the message. Thank you, OP, for posting.

NO - I do not find PP cynical at all and completely agree that the OP is unnecessarily creating scare tactics. Not a big surprise though, OP is probably someone who has been fighting against opening schools for months.. they are probably waiting for some piece of evidence now that hybrid is actually happening.

Scary denialism at work here. Better to hide the cases PP?

What’s up with all the cases at ATS?

Has there been any communication to ATS families about the cases?

It almost tracks like a small outbreak. Hope everyone’s ok.

There has not been communication at ATS about the cases. I wonder about the other schools with positives?
To clarify, these are hybrid kids (not virtual) and the report says if they are Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday/Friday.

Furthermore, these are parent-report via the email quiz. We have no way of knowing if they kids even attended. Not all children who signed up for hybrid have returned in person so I suspect these children did not attend school yet. Since my child has started back at school, the dashboard says there were a few cases in their cohort (the T/W or T/F cohort). However, I also have the Va state gov tracker on my cell phone (no privacy concerns) and it has not notified me that I was near a case. So of the cases at my child's school, and my drop off and pick up, no ping from state. therefore, I conclude, via sherlock homes's methods, that these kids did not go to school at all. Parents did the quiz and badaboom, you get a positive but not at-school exposure.

ATS definitely has an outbreak and McK is looking a little concerning, as well.

There have been 3 cases at ATS this week alone. I find it hard to believe that none of those kids were at school.

Given the number of “close contacts” clustered around the positives, I assume at least some of the positive cases were children who were at school.
