Rank Our Girl Names

Emily and Claire are classic names.

Isabelle is too popular.

Not fond of Violet, I think because it sounds too much like Violent.

Sierra reminds me of an SUV.

I like Violet.

What about Seneca?

I like them all, but they are for different kids (or different parents).

Isabelle/Emily/Claire are classics that never go out of fashion, but they will also never have an original name (which is more than ok, but the reason some people stay away). Of these, the simplicity of Claire makes it my favorite, but Isabelle is more versatile for nn. Emily is actually my name. I like it but always one of a dozen growing up. That might be better now, but Emma is so common.

Violet is more interesting and some would say more trendy. It’s probably the name I would pick out if all of these, because I love flower names, very feminine names, slightly offbeat names. I would pick this name because it captures the idea of the sort of child I imagine myself having. But I’d be prepared for it to be more popular than I’d like, and I’d accept that some people will consider it trendy.

Sierra brings to mind nature and has a hippy vibe. It’s the most original and she won’t meet many others with her name. I imagine it would suit a family who is outdoorsy and a bit crunchy. I really like it, but would never personally use it because it doesn’t fit my family.

1. Violet is my favourite here.

2. Emily is pretty and classic, and I wonder if its popularity is on the wane, which could mean there wouldn't be 6 in your daughter's class.

3. Claire is my third favourite. It is simple and classic, and not overused right now.

4. Isabelle I love, but there are just so many of them now. It's still a great, classic name, though.

5. Sierra is ghastly, like a slutty hippie who grew up in a trailer park. Hard no.

I only like Claire...Emily a distant second. Isabelle is overused. I don't like Violet or Sierra

I like Violet, Isabel (with that spelling), and Claire. Emily is overdone and Sierra is a stripper name.

Like Seneca State park? I think it is a boy's name according to nameberry.

Instead Serena is nice. But, I would stick with Claire

Her classmates will joke that it's where she was conceived. In a jeep Sierra. Best to avoid car names

Emily is overused
Claire nice enough
Isabelle ditto

She can respond: “Why? Were you conceived in a Mustang Eleanor? My family doesn’t think like yours.”

I don’t like Emily. It’s cute (even though it’s very vanilla) on a kid, but it doesn’t seem like a grown up name. There’s something childish about it.

Claire is classic.

Violet is nice.

Sierra has a stripper vibe.

Isabelle is over-used. Not a fan. Izzy and Belle aren’t good NNs.
