DC: metabolic testing - worth it? Where?

Now for the physical part - I’ve been tracking but realize that I have no friggin clue how many calories my body actually needs.

Has anyone had metabolic testing done as part of a weight loss / life style shift? Where? Was it worth it? Helpful?

Yes metabolic testing is worth it. Especially if you get a dexa scan and a resting metabolic rate test.

Gives you a baseline on how many calories your body is burning and how much body fat and lean mass you have.

It will be easy for you to figure out how much to eat and also help you understand how much you should be working out.

If you want more information about it or help with it contact Julian at Prepare for performance in rockville. he has made some great suggestions for me on this exact topic.

I had it done and it just proved that my metabolism was/is just fine and the reason I wasn't losing weight was because I was eating too much and not eating in a deficit consistently.

OP stick to a calorie range of your goal weight x 10-12. So goal weight of 140 lbs would mean a range of 1400-1680. Stick to this range for a solid month. Aim for hitting it 90% of the time. That means you only go over 4 days out of the month. If you lose weight at the end of the month you know your range. If you haven't lost then adjust down a little, but honestly you probably won't need to adjust. Avoid overly restricting/eating too few calories to lose weight fast, that just backfires.

How can you have no clue what your BMR is? There are a gazillion calculators. Type in your gender, age, weight and voila, you get your BMR.
For many us they are wrong. Both ways. For me, they tend to be off 500 calories.

My sister in law did it. She's 60. She lost so much weight she needs to gain some back.
