How likely are my chances to get in to Deal for 6th grade?

grrrrr says anonymous lady on message board. Have you considered interacting with any of these people on a human-to-human basis rather than expecting osmosis-via-DCUM?

Never heard of this approach but sincerely doubt DCPS or Latin would go for it. Sounds very unlikely.

I just don't see how this would work unless you were coming from outside DC to the lottery.

+1. The plan for Term 4 is to have a lottery for kids who want to return. The prize, if you win, is ONE live class a week. It will take longer for most kids to travel and return home than receive in person instruction. This is an absolute embarrassment. All of our elected officials should be recalled. Looking at you Mary Cheh and Ruth Wattenberg . And the War 3 Ed Network has proven itself completely toothless and should be dismantled.

And it's not really in-person instruction. The teacher is simulcasting to the majority of her students, who are virtual. So if you envision this teach actually teaching and connecting with the in-classroom students, that's not what this will look like They are doing this at Wilson now. Better than nothing, I guess, but not sure it's worth the increased hassle and risk.

Latin has done it before but there were extenuating circumstances. The student needed to redo 5th grade for academic reasons. It is rare.

Basis has kids repeat grades all the time, but its only for students already at the school. I don't think a 5th grader can apply for 5th...
