Herndon probably should be doing a lot more self-promotion somewhere. They have 7-8 teams that play at an ECNL/GA level (e.g. their u19 Boys that beat Loundoun, BRYC and tied MD United at the Loudoun Showcase) despite being in CCL/EDP. |
| McLean is going to buy Herndon. Nadir negotiating a deal |
I don't know if some of it is - but one of the positive comments came from me and I am neither Greg, nor any longer have anything to do with Herndon. I had daughters that played for the club on teams which were too old to benefit from the improvements which were introduced a year or two below my daughters ages. I saw the impact of the coaching and training philosophy changes on the younger age group girls - and have seen the boys teams play in tournaments on occasion over the years as well. The difference really was night and day. |
| Greg Andrulis is not gonna coach your kid's team |
He’s not. But it’s important to understand what his role will be, especially since Total Futbol/Nadir is so involved in the club’s travel program. The first parent question during Andrulis’ intro meeting was about Total Futbol and he said he had already met with Nadir, despite only having been in the job for a couple of days. |
How does one "buy Herndon"? |
It's not "buying" Herndon; it's having some sort of a partnership agreement but nothing like a merger (or buy out) is happening with McLean. That was already discussed and rejected. They might be looking at partnerships with other area clubs. It will be interesting to see if Total Futbol/Nadir stay in Herndon now that Herndon has decided to take a club-centric approach and directly employ coaches (vs. each team employing its own coach). |
| Can anyone tell me how Nadir has time for all of this? He also coaches 2 ECNL teams at McLean and helps with 2 others there as well |
| each team employing its own coach is a wild-west environment with no quality control whatsoever, and team managers/parents running the show |
It's the classic McLean partnership - why don't you refer to us (McLean) all of your top players. We can offer them a pathway to ECNL and you (Herndon) keep the rest. |
In theory, it seems very Wild West and problematic. In reality, though, I think it worked well from the standpoint that coaches probably made more money since less dollars were going to pay the overhead club costs associated with a phalanx of directors and staff...so they’ve been able to attract and retain quality coaches in the program. |
More power to him if he can make it work |
|
One of the flakiest characters around, G A is faker than fake. He got the boot at NE R and couldn't make a dent in GM. Couldn't even land a gig in MLS or USL. At GM, he's got a Brazilian dude leading his sessions. He's either been canned or is on the verge of it in Herendon. Rumor has it he's fooling around with M. A. He claims he about equality. Lol.
What a role model he is. |
Ummm... he left Herndon 3 years ago. |
What McLean ECNL program? They haven't had their own ECNL program since 2020 |
