Let's talk face oils

I use DE Marla oil or Colleen Rothschild Oil No. 9 (which is awesome but often sold out). I use it at night as my last layer. So, my order is:

Cleanser
Serum
Moisturizer
Oil

But I finally tried it this winter after hearing a couple friends raving about it, and I love it! I started with an inexpensive one from Target (Botanics Facial Oil) and it's lovely. Not only is it keeping my skin more nourished but it gives me a nice flush and glow when I apply it so it helps with dullness too. I can wear it on its own or with a tinted CC cream over it and it's a great "no makeup" look. I've had a couple colleagues ask me if I went on a vacation they don't know about because I've got a vacation glow on video calls. I love it.

What do others use? I am going through the bottle I have fast and would be interested in trying something fancier. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the options.

I've been using this same one for a few years! I started with it because I have rosacea and read that I should try something with rosehip oil.

I have tried a few others, but really only like this one. Partly because I am really smell-sensitive and this one is very light in that respect. I had another one that smelled like cooking oil!

I am 38 and use Retina-A, but am also a big proponent of argan oil. Esp in the winter. The Trader Joe's version works just fine.

Oils are my jam. While bare bones oils from TJ are totally fine (rose hip, marula, jojoba), I don’t mind spending more on “fancy” oils since they go such a long way. My favorites are: biossance rose and vit c oil (medium weight, I use it in the day in winter and at night in summer); herbivore lapis, excellent at soothing during my period or whenever my skin is inflamed; herbivore emerald-VERY moisturizing, use it mostly in winter at night and it is lovely; nuxe dry oil, very nice to seal in moisture.

I use them both in the am and pm. I use a lighter oil in the day, like the biossance or nuxe, and I put sunscreen on top. If I’m going to be outside a lot in winter, I also use another moisturizer (it’s like I hit 40 and my face became the gobi). At night I use a heavier oil-emerald, marula, even the biossance in summer, as my last step. I drip 1-4 drops, warm it in my palms, then gently press into my face. I use a lot of watery toners and serums, and the hydration mixes with the moisture in the oil to make a lovely glowy finish. I will never be without facial oils!!

I’ve been adding the Timeless squalane oil to my moisturizer for a few years now, and I love it. Someone here recommended it, and I’m so glad they did.

I've also used a rose oil from Trader's Joes but did not like that one as much.

I used to like their rose hip oil but my TJs stopped selling it.

You have to look for an oil that is good for oily skins.

I love the Timeless Squalane oil - the best. No fragrance, priced well....use it every day and I get complements all the time

I love the Burt's Bees oil. I discovered it a few years ago. I order it from Amazon because I can't always find it in the store.

Evan Healy’s Chilean rose hip oil mixed with rose jasmine hydrosol.

Mix a few drops of oil and an aqueous liquid to form an emulsion. It goes on the skin like silk.

I'm trying to decide between these two. I use retina-A and could really use more hydration.

What is the differences between them? Does the emerald smell like weed at all?

Dear Oils-Master: any recs for an early 50s woman with sensitive skin that sometimes has patches of eczema? Are there fragrance free ones out there for sensitive types? I am an oil newby, but I'm wondering if they can help me. For decades I had nice skin that ran oily with only occasional teeny breakouts and now I find myself with very dry skin. I'm having to completely revamp my routine.

I use evening primrose oil after trying coconut oil, argan oil and sweet almond oil. I’m mid-40s with dry skin. It only takes a few drops and absorbs quickly, leaving my skin feeling supple and soft. I can put sunscreen and makeup over without feeling too heavy.
