They will work in watergate salad (love that stuff). I've used dried out marshmallows and the cool whip rehydrate s them.

This. They’re not going to get any better. Buy a pack of clothespins to secure bags in the kitchen.

Put the dried marshmallows in ziploc with a piece of fresh bread for a day. The bread dries you and marshmallows get soft again. Can use sliced apples too, but I have only ever done bread.

Oops- The bread dries *out*

Do you have kids?

Use the dried up marshmellows for crafts - have the kids insert toothpicks into the marshmellows and make houses/bridges/igloos/fun shapes - a bit of supplement to DL.

I have a friend that loves stale marshmellows- try eating them as is. Otherwise, give the toss-

Imagine being this cheap.

I have used them for rice krispy treats -- they don't melt quite as easily so you have to be patient. Also good added to brownies right before they go in the oven!

Not OP, but I hate throwing out food. It's not about the money. It's about the waste and the associated environmental cost. If I can use something, I will. My grandmother used to pickle watermelon rind, and while I won't go that far, I hate to even toss the watermelon rind because I know that I COULD be repurposing it.

For the record, watermelon rind pickles are SO good, and it’s not about saving money and just SO good!!!!

So? They work and they’re cheaper than the alternatives.

They are like .99 . Throw them away. Why are you so desparate to eat that trash?

Anonymous wrote:How about a fluffy fruit salad thing? Tons of retro recipes from the 40s and 50s use mini marshmallows and I bet they would rehydrate just fine in one of those. I personally always have and always will like Ambrosia salad, what can I say. Here's a list with some ideas: https://www.tasteofhome.com/collection/vintage-marshmallow-salad-recipes/

I used to LOVE this in the 80s. Sour cream + sugar and stir in marshmallows. Let the marshmallows soak up the liquid.
