| 5’2 and 70lbs? And she’s 13? I don’t mean to intrude but that’s very very skinny. 5’1 is normal, but the weight is worrisome. |
| My daughter likes Garage. |
OP here. Yes, it sounds worrisome, but I’m not worried . She has my build. I didn’t hit 100lbs until after I graduated from high school, and I’m 5’6”. Her doctor isn’t worried either, and she eats plenty! I was always self conscious about my thinness, so want to make sure she feels good about herself, which includes finding clothes that fit. Thank you for all the suggestions, I forgot about H&M. I always thought of it as a mall brand and didn’t consider looking at their website! Will look at Hollister and the other brands mentioned as well.

| Op again. Has anyone heard of Shein? Not sure of the spelling, but I guess a few of her friends have clothes from there, but I’ve never heard of it. |

Definitely H&M and uniqlo -- any brands that originated with European or Asian sizing tend to run smaller.
When H&M first opened in DC I went and grabbed some clothes to try on -- they were marked with European sizing and some rough conversions for US sizes -- I'm small for US sizing (2-4), but half the stuff I tried was so small I couldn't even get it on. |
I am glad someone at least asked the question and, OP, I am glad you did not get offended and sound on top of it. My skinny 11 year old boy weighs 70 lbs and is like 5 inches shorter, I think. |
My 13yo says her friends love it. She's 5'0" and pretty curvy, wears standard petite sizes, but her friends tend to be taller and skinnier than she is, so it might work. When she and I looked at the site together, I didn't see much that was all that age-appropriate, but fortunately it didn't seem to be her style anyway. It's definitely "fast fashion," though. Stuff seems even more cheaply-made than H&M. |
My DD is 14 years old, 5'3" and 80 pounds and super slim. She also has my build where I didn't hit 100 lbs until college and I'm 5'5". She eats more than any of her friends that I've seen at gatherings so I'm not worried. It's genetic and she will count her blessings as she gets older! My DD loves Lululemon leggings in size 2. They are expensive so she only has 2 pair but they fit her nicely. She also likes Gap leggings. Old Navy and American Eagle jeans fit nicely as they have adjustable waists and super small sizes to choose from. Also try Kohls Junior section. My DD fits into XS Junior sizes and the styles are age appropriate. Aritzia joggers in XS fit nicely. Target clothes in XS depending on the style. Francesca's in XS or XXS depending on the style. TBH... there are a lot of choices for clothing that fit her even though she is super slim. You'll find them! Hope this helps. |
