Even with new strands of the virus?

No one cares, look around. There is a very small minority who will chose virtual. Everyone else is planning spring break vacations.

Hey, double mask.

Yup - double mask and wear the face shield. Teachers will be vaccinated, no doubt the kids will return but possibly after spring break.

Its not FOMO, its basically concurrent is taking a massive dump on DL instruction. You know teachers will be focused on in-person students, helping them with technical issues, yelling about mask protocols etc; the good cadence that DL has built up is being tossed out so some loud parents can get childcare.

So? I am ok with that. And you should be ok with DL instruction since that's what you picked. If you are not, there are plenty of other virtual learning platforms you can select from and enroll your child in.

+1. People are out and about everywhere. Everything is crowded these days. Have you seen Tysons on a weekend? Vacations are being planned.

Concurrent does not equal DL. Concurrent does not equal hybrid. The Asst Supt for Instruction stated quite clearly in 2020 that it was an inappropriate model for students below high school age. It's also not a small minority. 40% across the county chose virtual last fall. That's a minority but not a small one. In the anecdote area, there's also plenty of parents saying they chose hybrid based on the promise of a metrics-based decision to reopen but who will not send their kids if the infection rates remain as high as they are.

If teachers are vaccinated and still nervous, it's the best option as I understand.

Then they are the ones with mental health issues.

It's so messed up. I chose hybrid when I thought it was actual in-person instruction. Not concurrent still learning on an iPad. APS totally botched this. If the lack of assistants is the problem, what is APS doing about this? Are they relaxing requirements, recruiting heavily, maybe tapping extended day staff that would like this option?

Pretty dumb to be planning spring break vacations and wanting schools to be open at the same time. One reason things are working at private schools is that most have a policy against coming right back to school after traveling. You either skip the travel or have to quarantine and/or test before coming back to school. Pick one -- in person school with no travel till the year ends, or virtual school with the freedom to travel.

I'm a bit confused because DS who is in HS said that all his friends were posting on their snapchat stories the days they were going back to school (Tues/Wed or Thurs/Fri), but zero communication about this has gone out to the parents.

1. How do the HS kids know which day of the week they will be in-person and do we know when they are going back?
2. Why are the kids being informed before the parents?

Anyone else experiencing this?

It's in Parent vue or whatever the student equivalent is. Canvas?? It has no actual bearing on when they go back. I think it's been there for a while.

Yes, but they aren’t the ones whining to open. It’s the mom who miss the gym and Starbucks and “me time”.
