My daughter has had perfect attendance for a couple of years. She will miss school on Friday! Loudoun has a dreadful school board now so we will be looking at new schools for her! |
My kids missed one day, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving due to the wi-fi in our cabin not being effective. It was a slow day so coursework wise they didn't miss anything, but it was still an absence. Otherwise they've been in all of their classes every day. They are 100% virtual. |
Mine still have doctor appointments and such so no, they don’t have perfect attendance. |
BWHAHAHA. No. Are you in NOVA? Does it even matter??
I'm lucky if my kid wakes up in time for class. HS Senior with straight A's despite never going to "class". Why on earth does it matter this year?? |
I suspect its binary. Many more probably have perfect attendance. And many more probably have LOTS of absences. |
Coming from a former kid who usually had perfect or close-to-perfect attendance, we need to stop making this a thing. It privileges those lucky to be in good health while encouraging those who are sick to show up anyway, spreading their germs. It privileges those whose parents can drive a kid in at the drop of a hat when the bus is seriously delayed. It punishes those whose families are not nearby. |
My kid missed a class yesterday due to the zoom outage/issues logging on. Still marked absent. He also missed when there was a gas leak and we had to leave the house. |
No. My kids’ attendance is worse than ever (but still not bad).
They’ve missed a few classes- excuses- for legit reasons (dr or dentist appt etc) They’ve missed several classes due to oversleeping etc (not a ton, but each has missed first period 2-3 times for this reason) The biggest reason, however, is teachers missing them on zoom during roll call- I swear this happens at least once/wk per kid. I make them email the teacher to plead their case (I was in class, we discussed xyz, somehow I was missed etc)- sometimes it is corrected, other times not. It is a fairly chronic problem ag our school- lots of parent complaints. I don’t overly worry about it. I think overall attendance is A problem at our middle school- many kids are left to their own devices (parents working) so there tends to be skipping. |
DS legitimately was sick and slept one day.
He’s spent countless days logged on but on YouTube while we work. I’d say him being present in class is worse than ever. |
Is this question a joke!? MOST kids?! In areas that have terrible internet, 30% of students aren't attending AT ALL. |
The OP meant most DCUM kids. |
No, he was marked absent by mistake one day and missed first period today because there was a schedule change and we all thought he didn’t have live instruction today. I couldn’t care less, honestly. He’s in 10th grade and spends most of his time on homework. Good kid. |
