Do I have cankles?

Not totally, but tell your “friend” to F off.

I have seen slender women with cankles. The calf is about the same width as the ankle. Think Shania Twain. Stunningly beautiful woman, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a pic of her in shorts. I wouldn’t say you have cankles.

The more pressing question is how did this come up? Did you specifically ask her about your ankles? Fashion advice? Were you discussing shoes? Is this friend loyal to the hilt, but is maybe a bit on the spectrum? Would she respond well to being told how much this hurts your feelings? I just can’t imagine saying that to a friend.

No. Tiffany Trump has cankles.

You don’t have cankles! Also, why do women point these things out? Had anyone ever looked at a man and criticized his ankles?

Who at 5’6, 110 lbs has cankles? I’m similar, and I can wrap my fingers around my ankle, but my calves are much larger from weight lifting and run/bike/hike activities.

I’m a PP who doesn’t think OP has cankles. I know people with true cankles, front butts, and multiple chins. BMI’s 35-40+

Maybe not true cankles, but you can have very thick calves and ankles without being otherwise fat. I’m only 4’11, and I’ve always had thick ankles, even in college when I weighed less than 95 pounds and wore size 0. My calves and ankles are about the same size now, even though I’m sadly much much heavier elsewhere. I can’t come anywhere close to being able to wrap my fingers around my ankles, only about half way (but I also can’t fully wrap my fingers around my wrist either).

Piano legs maybe?

I have a friend that really has a lower leg that is the same length to foot. No defined ankle. She is tall and thin. They are piano legs. With flats it looks kind of weird.

Cankles are more like no defined ankle but also chubby.

I have very defined, tinier ankles. I get compliments on my legs a lot. The downside is I overturn my ankles fairly easily.

Your legs and ankles look average.

You need to lose your friend.

Omg don’t lie to this person. There is zero definition in their ankles. They have asked a question. You help no one with distorted body images by lying and claiming that there is a defined ankle. The OP’s legs are straight from knee to foot. They are NOT fat but there is no discernible ankle.

Cankles aren't about weight--it's just that there's no slimming at the ankle. So your friend has cankles. Same thing as piano legs.

Absolutely!! My SIL is very overweight but her calves and ankles are extremely defined.

Your friend is not a friend, she is an ahole.
